H-E-B presents the Tenth Annual
Fireworks on the Brazos!
Spectacular Fireworks Display set to Patriotic Music!

Washington-on-the-Brazos State Historical site is the place to bring your family this July Fourth.  The “Birthplace of Texas” has a full day of fun activities planned to celebrate our nation’s independence, capped off by a tremendous fireworks display at dark.

Start the day by visiting the site’s three main attractions:

Admission to the park is free, but some tour fees apply.  Call 936-878-2214 for tour hours.

Festival Food Vendors will be on hand all day, with special, free, activities beginning in the evening. New this year is the addition of “The HEB BUDDY KID ZONE”, complete with moonwalk, rock wall, and other hands on games.  Family Friendly Western Entertainers will be set up throughout the park, with music, trick roping, and some real live Texas Longhorns!

The Navasota Theater Alliance will present excerpts from the musical “We the People,” beginning at noon in the amphitheater.  Brenham band “Narrow Road” will present a mix of Christian, patriotic, and contemporary music at four o’clock, providing a musical backdrop to the day’s activities.

Children will be invited to participate in 1800’s period games, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Then, head to the Tom and Jane Bullock Amphitheater at 6:00, when local blues favorite, Tubie & the Touchtones will take the stage. Tubie has been nominated musician of the year by the Texas Music Awards.

Cool off with some free Blue Bell Ice Cream and Coca-Cola Drinks beginning at 7:00. The Brenham Children’s Chorus and the Brenham Sacred Chorus will perform “Happy Birthday, America!” at 7:30.

Finally, the highlight of the evening is a fifteen-minute fireworks extravaganza, choreographed to your favorite patriotic music.  The display begins at approximately 9:15, and is easily viewed from locations all over the 293-acre park. It will also be simulcast on KTEX 106 Sounds Like Texas.  So, bring your radio, blanket, and lawn chairs and enjoy this Free Fireworks on the Brazos display, made possible by our presenting sponsor, H-E-B.

Free shuttle buses will be available to bring visitors from satellite parking areas to the Visitor Center, beginning at noon, and ending at 8:00. Free shuttles will also be available beginning at 4:00 from the Navasota Center, and will run every 30 minutes until 10:00 p.m.

This event is made possible by donations from Bluebonnet Electric, Brenham National Bank, Brazos Valley Area-wide Phonebooks, The City of Navasota Tourism Center,  Del Sol Foods, Brenham Coca-Cola, Blue Bell Ice Cream, Germania Insurance, KTEX/KWHI, Kolkhorst  Petroleum, Mid South Synergy, Peter Paul Petroleum,  and of course, H-E-B.

Washington-on-the-Brazos State Historical Site is located halfway between Brenham and
Navasota off State Hwy. 105, on FM 1155, approximately one hour northwest of Houston.

CURRENTLY THE BRIDGE IS OUT ON FM 1155, BETWEEN HIGHWAY 105 AND THE PARK.  VISITORS SHOULD TURN ON FM 912, WHICH WILL LEAD YOU DIRECTLY TO THE PARK. Directions and more information are available by calling 936-878-2214, or online at www.birthplaceoftexas.com.
